Generic Name: Pregabalin
Strength & Packaging: 100 × 300 mg capsules/tablets

Description
Pregabalin is an anticonvulsant and neuropathic pain agent used in the management of selected neurologic and pain-related conditions. It acts on the central nervous system and is prescribed to help control neuropathic pain, certain seizure disorders, fibromyalgia, and related conditions under medical supervision. Pregabalin is the generic name for this product.

Indications
Pregabalin is indicated for the management of neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures, fibromyalgia, and neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury. Exact approved uses may vary by market and labeling.

Dosage & Administration
Dosage should be individualized based on indication, renal function, and patient response. Standard labeled regimens commonly range from 150 mg to 600 mg per day in divided doses, depending on the condition being treated. A 300 mg strength may be used as part of the total daily regimen, but dosing should follow the prescribing physician’s instructions and applicable product labeling. Dose adjustment is recommended in patients with reduced renal function.

Mechanism of Action
Pregabalin binds to the alpha2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, which helps reduce the release of certain excitatory neurotransmitters. This contributes to its analgesic, anticonvulsant, and anxiolytic-like effects.

Precautions
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment, history of angioedema, heart failure risk, or those receiving other central nervous system depressants. Pregabalin may cause dizziness, somnolence, blurred vision, edema, and impaired concentration. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided, as withdrawal-related symptoms may occur.

Side Effects
Common adverse effects include dizziness, somnolence, blurred vision, dry mouth, peripheral edema, weight gain, and difficulty concentrating. Some patients may also experience fatigue or coordination problems.

Storage
Store at controlled room temperature, protected from excessive heat, moisture, and light. Keep the product in its original container and out of reach of children. Storage should follow the manufacturer’s label and local regulatory guidance.
